It has been said, for quite some time, that violence begets violence. Evil begets evil. This is true only to an extent.
While violence is indicative of itself, it is continually re-created with each birth of a new human. For all of humankind has the propensity of violence within them. Some of them are even born with the pre-disposition towards violence, a lust for it...even a physical need for it. Violence begets violence because humans are naturally violent, thus humans beget humans...the two are the same, intertwined as your own veins. There can be no peace on this world so long as humans maintain a dominance over it. No other creature, devil or angel, has quite the skill at violence, pain, warfare or hate...volumes of human hate...no other creature possesses such a skill in these areas as a human does.
Yet we have our own arrogance about these things...we consider ourselves above animal brutality, or even being animals, yet never miss an opportunity to impose that brutality on anything we can. We see certain things as being petty...in our childlike ways.
Revenge is something people see as petty, or evil...for the most part, revenge is perceived this way because revenge can be so painful in such a cold and final way. This is the equivalent of saying: 'Stop it, that hurts.' Well of course it hurts...this is blessed revenge we are talking about here...it is supposed to hurt. The more it hurts, the more perfect it becomes. This is the logic behind many human endeavors.
However, the saying of vengeance solving nothing is the main point here...for vengeance can solve most things. What is the true goal of vengeance? Not peace, but rather it is satisfaction...satisfaction to calm a blood lust, to forget a trespass against. Do not confuse this with justice, there is no such thing as justice. If justice did exist, it would simply be revenge without the satisfaction. Forgiveness does not yield satisfaction, forgiveness simply yields. It yields to the whim of all those whom you allow to hold sway over you, it yields to the perverse desires of those who refuse to play by the rules you force yourself to abide by and adhere to.
Revenge yields satisfaction, and the only way to true peace (insofar as humans can achieve a peace) is by having satisfaction. For the hate to end--the thoughts of cruel justice--there must be peace, there must be satisfaction of a punishment. Those people who hold on to their 'noble' ideas of death penalties are nothing more than revenge...but revenge of the most hypocritical nature, for they do not want to see a murderer punished--though that is the excuse the majority of them use--they want to see the murderer killed, dead...that is not punishment, that is not justice. That is revenge.
Those who wish revenge, who plan it and gain it, those are the ones who can expect a type of peace. Unfortunately, as with most things human, those who plan revenge become addicted to the false sense of power it imbibes.
Revenge is simple...all those who wrong you, you do not punish them, you do not perform simple vengeance...all enemies are removed. Revenge is removing a threat entirely, an embarrassment, a pain, a sinful or unholy act. Revenge is making your enemies non-existent. Revenge is a choice. Revenge is a skill. Revenge is now.
